I Also Like Books Without Pictures

I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve last updated. I’ve been really busy blogging on other sites for fun and profit. (Fun: panelsonpages.com. Profit: alecdifrawi.com)  I’ve been doing a ton of reading as well, and I’m not just talking comic books. While comics are what I write about on PoP!, I’ve been devouring novels lately. Gotta learn the craft, ya know. Future bestselling novelist here.

Ready Player One
Ok, so I read this one a while ago. I even wrote a review for PoP! But it’s such a great book that it deserves another mention. Video games, pop culture, and the audiobook is narrated by Wil Wheaton. Amazing.

The Fault In Our Stars
This is the first John Green novel I read after becoming a Vlogbrothers fan on YouTube. It’s heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

The Hunger Games
If you don’t know how awesome this book is by now… you fail. Sadly, I haven’t gotten to the other two books yet.

The Girl In The Steel Corset
I thought this book would have more of a romance slant since it’s published by Harlequin Teen, but it’s light on the love and heavy on the steampunk mystery. It’s like Sherlock Holmes meets X-Men. The plot isn’t quite as tight as the other three books I’ve mentioned, but it’s a lot of dumb gaslight fun.

CSS: The Missing Manual
Oh look, it’s a book on how to do nerdy stuff. I’m actually glad I took this refresher on CSS. Looking forward to working on some web design soon. (I might start re-designing this site in the near future. Possibly a to-the-bones overhaul. Just for fun. Because I’m a dork.)

I’m currently reading The Iron Hunt by Marjorie Liu, but it’s slow going. That book is best enjoyed in slowly digestible chunks, as opposed to an all-out sprint like these other books.
